Are surveys a good source of data? We seem to see them all the time especially when elections are coming up. This poll shows this, this poll shows that, but haw accurate are these polls? Can we truly rely on these polls for data and information? How serious do the people that answer these surveys take them? All this data is pretty much impossible to find out considering the only way to collect it is through a survey. Studies have shown that only about 80% of survey questions are answered honestly. The question becomes, are they a reliable way of gathering information, and just how accurate are they really? I guess it’s all in the eyes of the beholder. In my opinion, you can’t rely on them 100% and they best they offer you is a ballpark estimation of what people are thinking.
