Identify the translation science framework or model that is most relevant to your practice problem from among the following three models and consider your reasoning: Roger’s Diffusion of Innovations (pp. 36–39); Knowledge-to-Action (pp. 42–45); Theory of Reasoned Action (pp. 66–67). Assess your understanding of “translation science” and how you would explain it in the context of evidence-based practice and quality improvement.

The translation model I selected is the Knowledge to Action (KTA). The framework is a model that focuses on helping those interested in knowledge translation offer effective and evidence-based interventions (Moore et al., 2020). Generally, the model advocates using research among healthcare professionals or organizations to make effective decisions. Using research to make decisions on matters that negatively affect patients or the healthcare sector leads to better outcomes. For example, the use of evidence-based interventions to solve the problem of nosocomial infections leads to reduced readmission and mortality rate. The model encourages organizations to make the right decisions by conducting further research to prevent losses and complications. For example, carrying out adequate research before implementing a project helps prevent the risk of spending resources on the wrong projects. Various reasons make the model relevant to my area of practice problem. In my area of practice, a significant problem is inadequate staffing in healthcare facilities. Inadequate staffing negatively impacts the patient and the organization (Haegdorens et al., 2018). One way that the model can be utilized in solving the problem is by encouraging organizations to research the most effective interventions for solving the issue of inadequate staffing. For instance, an organization should research the most effective way of organizing the workload to help prevent the complications caused by inadequate staffing. Effectively organizing the workload will create time for the healthcare providers to rest, making them more productive. The other reason the framework is relevant to my area of practice problem is that it will help prevent losses. Implementing the framework will help the organizations to make decisions that will positively impact the patients without any extra cost or losses.
