What defines beauty. The scrutiny of women today and throughout history.

Instructions

This is what I wrote for my abstract.

Beauty is an abstract construct. We all have our own ideas about what is and is not beautiful–a particular song or painting, a man or woman. Accurately describing what exactly “it” is that makes the song, painting, or person beautiful, however, is a daunting task. In this paper, I will argue how we need to change the lens through which women are constantly scrutinized or otherwise judged. Why we have changed women’s beauty, yet men remain the same. And is body type changing because they can now choose? I am really looking forward to delving further into this topic of What defines beauty. The scrutiny of women today and throughout history.

And I choose to that paper verses a work of art. So you can ignore that part of the attached directions. Also, my professor did not say how many sourses to use, so I chose three.  But can have the final say on sources.

Here are just a few people in different time periods and images of women to incoperate in the synthesis:

– Peter Paul Rubens- Baroque style

– Venus of Willendorf

– Rennaissance period- Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus”

– Twiggy- Bristish cultural icon. Model in the 60’s- super thin

– Rita Hayworth- “The Love Goddess” in the 40’s
