DuBois uses an analytical concept called “the veil.” Discuss what “the veil” is according to DuBois, using historical examples drawn from our work so far in this course. What was DuBois trying to explain by introducing this concept? Who do you think was the intended audience for this discussion? To whom was he trying to explain these terms? Can you think of examples today (or in the past few years) where the concept of the veil might be useful?
