You are a social worker and you have been assigned the following case: A 12 year old juvenile has been caught shoplifting at a local convenience store. He comes from a broken home where his father is in prison and his mother is no longer in the picture and her whereabouts are unknown. He lives with his paternal grandmother. Over the last few months, his grades have begun to slip and then the shoplifting incident occurred. Thinking about the types of referral programs reviewed this chapter, which one(s) do you think would benefit this juvenile? Explain your reasoning thoroughly.
