Is Los Angeles still the place to be?

After thinking about the American Dream, about Civil Rights, about immigration and ethnic diversity, and other long-standing social problems in Southern California– Is LA still the place to be? Is the California/Hollywood Dream still alive? Many people in the past have come to LA to remake their lives. Some have actually done it. Others have failed. Is Los Angeles the place to achieve the American Dream, or is Los Angeles where those dreams become nightmares?
