How the Cold War affected American home life and culture

Cold War. In addition to foreign policy, the Cold War structured much of America’s domestic life between the late 1940s and the 1970s (and beyond, but we haven’t gotten there yet). Making reference to at least three topics, talk about how the Cold War had an impact on American life at home during this period. You may want to reference some of the following: Loyalty/The Red Scare, gay rights, suburbanization, concerns over whether the US had the educational and technological levels to fight the Cold War, the Civil Rights Movement, among other possible topics.
